Who would have thought that the Apple Watch actually had a "native" Qibla Complication?
You read that right, let me tell you the story and end your miserable strugle of trying to find ad-free Qible finder applications.
It was one of those moments: I was sitting on the toilet, minding my own "business", and I was bored waiting for the last dr... anyways I wanted to check the time on my Apple Watch and I thought "How about I change this battery complication to something else?".
Then I scrolled to the Compass app and my initial plan was to add the standard compass but I realized there were other options in the list. So, I kept scrolling, and I stumbled upon freaking 70+ addresses that I had saved to my list in Apple Maps ages ago. And the compass complication has a feature to point to these locations.
While scrolling through my address list, this was exactly what was going through my head: "Why would I want my compass to point towards the hotel I stayed in Jeju island or the barber shop in Milan?", then a light bulb went off, and I came up with the best idea of 2024: Adding the Kaaba to my location list in Apple Maps and then choosing it for my compass to point to on my watch face.
How to do?
If you also want test this out, here are the steps:
1. Create a new location, the Kaaba, using the Apple Maps on your iPhone.
- Tap on your Avatar
- Go to Library
- Go to Places
- Tap + Add and add
Kaaba
to your list
- Now that you have added The Kaaba to your list, tap on the three dots next to
Kaaba
, then tap on the Add to a Guide option
- Save the location to the list, in my case My Places
2. Add a compass complication that points to where the Kaaba is
-
Tap and hold on your watch face and then tap on Edit
-
Swipe to the "Complications" screen, then choose Kaaba under the "Compass" menu
- Save your changes and go back to your watch face. Voila!!!
- This is the detailed view you get, when you tap on the complication from the Watch Face. Red pin: Kaaba, White point: the direction my watch is pointing at
